For the last few months, I’ve been focused on how to help people understand and use Twitter for business. As part of my preparation to speak at the WritersUA conference about using Twitter, I developed a new ebook, Twitter for Beginners. I’m pleased to share this ebook with you today.
The ebook focuses on using Twitter for business. It covers the following information:
- How to understand and use Twitter’s features.
- The importance of defining your Twitter business goal.
- Best practices for setting up your Twitter account profile.
- Strategies for defining your Twitter community.
- Guidelines for crafting effective messages.
- Procedures for using each message type.
- Deciphering message components and their importance.
- Planning weekly activities that build your Twitter success.
- Starting to use Twitter on your mobile internet-enabled device.
I’m happy to share this ebook with you. As always, let me know how you use this resource. I’m really interested to hear what information was the most helpful to you.
I hold the copyright to this ebook, but I’m publishing it under a Creative Commons license that allows you to print, copy, share, and publish it as long as you don’t change the ebook. For more information about the Creative Commons license, use the link in the document to learn what you can and cannot do.

Thank you, great resource for even the seasoned tweeter, not me of course. Very well thought out.
Excellent resource that puts all the key things you need to know about twitter into a succinct format. I am trying to introduce twitter to the teachers at my school but they just don’t get it …yet. Hopefully, your book will assist.

Thank you so much. Delightful, easy to understand. I am working with SCORE (free advice to small businesses, start ups and existing), not for profits and I also teach college. This will be very valuable in helping them understand how to get started. A lot of good karma is coming your way. Best of everything, D
Thank you for this ebook!! It was very, very helpful.
Thanks for the free resource!
In the future I would suggest trying to collect some information from people upfront (email address minimum) before giving them the resource. This is so that you can get a direct, measureable benefit from the good work that you have done: information on potential clients!
Thanks to everyone who has left a message here. I do appreciate hearing from you!
Zahra: My intention with this work was to give people free and easy access to the information. I know requiring registration is a common practice, but I felt it would impede the flow of information. I made the decision NOT to require registration. The ebook contains my contact information. If an ebook lands in the hands of someone who wants to engage my services, they can find me easily. I’ve found that push advertising doesn’t work. I don’t need thousands of email addresses. I need a few clients who are eager to use my services. That’s why I have taken this strategy.
Fantastic e-book for Twitter beginners like me! I could not understand DM’ing (Direct Messaging) no matter how much I tried this and tried that, until I read your well-put, easy-to-understand, e-book!
Thank you so much for the help!
You did a great job on the e-book.
Sincerely,
Christine Toomey

Just getting started with Twitter and your T4B was recommended. It is something I will refer back to more than once. Thanks so very much for your “give away.” Keep reaching for the stars.

While preparing a brief spiel for a client about Twitter for beginners, I found myself searching for references and remembered you tweeting about your Ebook back in April. Congrats on it making such a big impact… Many thanks. I’ll be sure to give credit!
@BlairHatz
Thanks, Blair. I love using the Creative Commons license for exactly that reason. People can reuse what I’ve done instead of reinventing the wheel.
Thanks for such a well done e-book. I look forward to reading it all the way through.
What sort of software do you use to create your e-books? It looks far more sophisticated than MSWord :)
I’d like to create one on an entirely different topic.
Diane Schuller’s last blog post..Taking Photos of Your Dog / Pet (Rewind Wednesday)
Diane: Thanks for the kind comment. I used MS Publisher because it has a few more formatting features than Word. They can be done in Word, and in fact, would be easier in some ways. I did the writing in Word, and then plunked it into Publisher because Publisher lacks the nice editing features of Word. It’s a trade-off either way.
Good luck with your ebook. Did you see my post about them: http://blog.crowinfodesign.com/2008/12/09/getting-started-ebooks/
